Method

  1. Bring 1.5 cups of water to a boil in your pot using your portable stove or campfire.
  2. Add the ramen noodles to the boiling water. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the noodles are soft.
  3. Stir in the Dottie Soup packet. Mix well to dissolve the soup powder or paste.
  4. If desired, chef it up with dehydrated vegetables, jerky or a boiled egg.
  5. Simmer for 1–2 more minutes.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Add hot sauce or green onions for a kick.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy your nourishing hiker meal!

Trail tips

  • Pre-mix your soup and ramen (without its flavor packet) in a zip-lock bag to save time.
  • Use a thermal mug to keep your meal hot longer, especially in cold weather.
  • Customize the recipe by experimenting with different soup flavors and ramen types.

Two ways to make it

  • Ramen bombs: use 1 ramen pack, without the flavor packet, with 2 cups of water and one Dottie Soup single (Tomato Bisque, Cream Spinach or Onion Parmesan).
  • Rice or couscous bombs: use 1 cup instant rice or couscous in 2 cups of water with one Dottie Soup single.
  • Protein options in shelf-stable pouches or foil packs: chicken, freeze-dried beef, salmon, tuna or Sloppy Joe (StarKist).
  • Chef it up: add 1–2 Tbsp olive oil for more calories and a saucy rather than pasty finish.
